So here I am, I have now gone 8 weeks without drinking alcohol.
I am sooo happy writing these words!!
Now at 8 weeks without alcohol. The longest I have ever gone.
So, how do I feel?
As anyone does nowadays – I hit Google to see where I am in the whole sober game. What differences have I made to myself, according to the internet.
Turns out, quite a bit.
Reductions in risks of various types of cancers. Common ones mentioned are
- Liver
- Oral
- Breast
- Throat
- Stomach
- Ovarian
- Colorectal
This list in itself is enough comfort to feel that it is all going in the right direction.
So, aside from the health implications for the future….how about the right now?
8 weeks in – honestly feel great physically. Zero alcohol has encouraged me to drink far more water – I am not one for hot or carbonated drinks anyway, so water is the easiest choice.
Regular exercise managed due to not getting hammered has helped with this.
Sleep. This is still a difficult one for me. I am using audio sleep sounds on Spotify and the likes, with some success. But there are nights that are still long and tiring. My view on this?
Ride it out. IT WILL NOT KILL US!!
Just ride out the poor sleep and have faith that these are all steps in the right direction.
This has been my mantra for a while now, and I stick by it!
